School Uniform

The Governing body, along with the SLT, determine the school uniform for our school. All children are expected to be clean, neat and suitably dressed for school. The uniform for The Deans consists of:

  • Grey Pinafore, skirt, culottes, shorts or trousers
    • In the summer red and white checked or striped dresses or playsuits can be worn.
  • White short sleeved polo shirt, shirt or blouse.
  • Red Cardigan, Jumper or Sweatshirt (either plain or with school logo)
  • White or grey socks, or grey or red tights
  • A sensible waterproof outdoor coat for winter.
  • Sensible plain black shoes with no logos or pictures – not black trainers unless for PE.

Children with the wrong footwear will be asked to wear pumps during the school day.

Boots may be worn to school but must be no more than ankle high. All other boots must be changed when entering school.

Jumpers, cardigans, sweatshirts and polo shirts are all available with or without the school ‘logo’.

Nursery and Reception children can wear white or red polo shirts.

All the items of uniform are available online, from most local supermarkets or from Whittakers, Chorley Road, Swinton.

Children are not allowed to wear denim or cord jeans, nor should they wear tracksuit tops for everyday wear in school.

PE Kit

On your child’s PE day they should come to school wearing their PE kit. Your child’s teacher will inform you which day is PE day at the beginning of each term.

For PE a plain white T shirt and plain black shorts should be worn. No baggy T shirts, bermuda or cycling shorts will be allowed.

Children should wear plain black pumps or go barefoot for indoor PE. (Trainers should not be worn for this – they are not suitable as they slip on wooden floors and apparatus.)

For outdoor games plain black pumps or plain, dark coloured trainers can be worn. If the weather is cold, plain black tracksuits may be worn, or plain black bottoms and a red Deans Primary School hoodie (available here).

It is essential that all your children’s clothes are clearly marked with their name.

Jewellery and accessories

Hair accessories and headbands must be plain, without flowers or bows etc, and in the school colours of red or white.

No Jewellery is allowed in school apart from WATCHES and one pair of SMALL STUD EARRINGS (in the ear lobes only). Earrings are not to be worn on PE days or for swimming lessons. Nail varnish, false nails or any type of nail decoration is not allowed.
